Backup power function Power delivered even in power outages

Inverter with integrated backup power

PV system owners desire maximum independence with their PV systems, even during power outages and grid disturbances. The Fronius GEN24 offers the perfect solution for PV system owners who want essential power supply without battery storage through its integrated basic backup power supply, PV Point.

Basic backup power with the PV Point

The Fronius GEN24 inverter features PV Point, an innovative integrated basic backup power supply. In the event of a power outage, PV Point supplies power to an outlet using solar energy, allowing single-phase consumers to operate with up to 1.56 kW while the sun is shining. During a brief 5-second interval, the GEN24 can supply increased backup power of up to 2.4 kW through the PV Point. This feature proves especially beneficial for loads requiring higher starting currents.

For example, during a power outage, it's possible to charge a smartphone or laptop, enabling system owners to stay connected.

Advantages

  • No elaborate installations required
  • Supply for single-phase consumers up to 1.56 kW

How it works

With PV Point, a socket is connected to the inverter. Through this socket, electrical devices in the household can be operated during a power outage - all without a battery as long as the sun is shining.

Unlike certain other backup power solutions, PV Point doesn't necessitate extra switching components in the switch cabinet. Simply connect a cable from the PV Point terminal on the inverter to the designated AC socket that requires backup power. This translates to time and cost savings, as there's no need for extensive conversions or additions. The sole prerequisite is a GFCI-integrated AC socket to protect your loads.
